Buttermilk Pound Cake

This cake is light, moist and filled with the most delicious almond flavor.
Ingredients
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 2½ cups sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 3 cups flour
  • ¼ teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tsp almond extract
  • Powdered sugar, for dusting
  • Fresh sliced strawberries, optional
  • Fresh whipped cream, optional
Instructions
  1. In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  2. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each.
  3. Slowly add flour and baking soda.
  4. Drizzle in buttermilk slowly and beat on low
  5. Stir in vanilla.
  6. Pour into a greased and floured 10-in. fluted tube pan.
  7. Bake at 325° for 60-70 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean
  8. Cool in pan for 15 minutes before removing to a wire rack to cool completely.
  9. Dust with confectioners' sugar and serve with strawberries and whipped cream if desired
